This is an original design and measures 14" x 15 1/2".  The pattern has serged edges and is hand drawn  straight of the grain on Dorr Natural Primitive Linen.

It was a lot of fun to hook and would be a cute spring design, or if you collect chicken and rooster knick knacks, this would go well in the kitchen.  And, if you know someone who does act as mother hen, it would make a great 'thank you' gift.  

Magdalena's Dog

Magdalena Briner Eby was a prolific rug hooker from Pennsylvania who hooked rugs in the 1800's.  She has become one of the most well-known primitive folk art rug hookers today.

The dimensions of this rug is 17" by 22" is hooked on natural primitive linen using 100% woven wool strips in mostly #8.5, for center of flowers I may have used #8.   Both over dyed and as is textured wool was used to make this wonderful folk art piece.

Ducks and Egg Nest

This is an adaptation of an antique rug which is on display at the Museum of Montreal.  It is estimated to have been hooked between 1875 and 1923.  I have tried to replicate it in as close to the colors as the original antique using colors available to me. 

It is hooked using #8 and #8.5 100% wool strips on a natural primitive linen foundation.  The rug measures 17" x 31 1/2", it has a wool covered cord binding which extends onto the perimeter of the rug and used as the binding as well.  Here is a view of the back.

Strawberry Patch is a design by Claire Murray and measures 28" x 33".  This is hand hooked by me, using 100% wool cable yarn ~ it is NOT latch hook, but rather hooked in the traditional way.

This is the latest project just off my hooking frame.  It is an adaptation of a design by Polly Minick called Daleview Farm.  This rug measures 15 x 25, is hooked on primitive natural linen with 100% wool using cuts of #8 and #8.5.  It is bound with black cotton binding.

Jane's Quilt Rug

This rug was inspired by the Jane A. Stickle quilt which was made in 1863.  I chose only a few of the numerous quilt pieces she originally had in her quilt but the rug still measures 26" x 40 1/2".  This is a nice size to hang on the wall, lay on an antique chest and would be beautiful in a room where quilts are displayed.

It is hooked using 100% wool fabric on primitive natural linen foundation.

This elegant yet folk-style Blue Bird hooked purse measures 8 1/2" across the fullest part and 9 1/2" from top to bottom.  It has been hooked using hand dyed wool, has a blue rayon lining and off white twist wrap strap.  There is a snap closure and an inside small pocket for keys or lipstick.  Only the front is hooked, the back is woven off-white wool.   $68 plus shipping.

Look at these attractive purses.  The image is of the Delaware Breakwater Lighthouse.  They are hand hooked on one side with a solid piece of wool on the back and lined with a snap closure.  The wool is hand dyed by me and is mainly hooked in #8 cut strips (1/4" wide).

Black Crow hooked purse with scallop top.   The scallop top is in a green wool to compliment the blue/grey and green textured wool background.  There a bluish rayon lining which has a small pocket to accommodate car keys, lipstick or small cell phone.  There is also a cloth covered snap closure at the top middle of the purse.  The purse measures 9" x 9 1/2" and is hooked only on the front side.

Lillian is made of tea dyed woven cotton; the nose, fingers and toes have been needle sculpted for a more primitive look.  Her facial features are embroidered with floss.

The wings and flowers on her wool dress have been hooked using #8 wool strips.  She is holding a sewn and stuffed wool heart   A Kindred Spirits design,  Lillian is 26" tall and sells for $70 + shipping.

Annie's face is hooked using wool felt vs. woven wool so there wouldn't be any loose threads.  Her arms, legs and body are out of the same. 

She is 19" tall, wears knit stripe socks, an old doily apron and holds a painted muslin heart.  Yarn hair and vintage button finish this collectible Raggedy Annie.

Hooked and prodded flower pins vary in dimension, but the average size of the flower is approx. 3"in diameter.  Many of my customers put them on their straw hats in the summer but some just use them to dress up a winter coat or dress.  The back of the pin is finished with wool and pin clasp.

This gorgeous and rich hand hooked rug measures 23 x 32.  It is hooked on Dorr primitive natural linen with over dyed and as is textured woolens in #8 and #8.5.

This hooked rug would make the perfect conversation piece and political statement in folk art form.  This is a design by Bird in Hand Primitives and measures 13 1/2" X 18 1/2" , and is hooked on natural primitive linen. 

The elephant is hooked with a wool boucle' using mostly #8.5 strips, the remainder of the rug is hooked with wool strips of either #8 or #8.5 strips; the background is a cream tan and blue textured wool other wools include as is textures as well as over dyed.
